NoW hacked mother of Sarah Payne
The evidence is believed to relate to a phone given to Sara Payne by then News of the World editor Rebekah Brooks as a gift to help her stay in touch with her supporters.
The allegation follows the disclosure recentl that the paper had hacked and deleted voicemails of the murdered Surrey schoolgirl Milly Dowler.
The tabloid had campaigned in the wake of Sarah Payne's murder for the introduction of a so-called "Sarah's Law" disclosing the addresses of known paedophiles.
